He can try to amend it in court but she doesn't HAVE to help him out with the travel time. If he wants to have visitation with his children he is going to have to be willing to put himself out. If you don't like it that is YOUR problem. What one of my cousin's did was just to split custody 50/50 since she lives on the East coast and he lives on the West coast. They put their petty differences aside and consentrated on the needs of the children. But not all divorced couples think in adult terms. Obvioulsy you, your husband and his ex wife are among those who don't put the chidlren's needs first.

We live in the midwest and his kids live in Canada.

His verbal agreement with the ex was that she pays for the airfare for the children to come to visit him 3 times a year. 5 years later, she has never flown the kids 3 times a year, so whatever you decide, be sure to get it in WRITING!!!!!

We usually end up paying for one trip, and she pays for the other trip, they've never come 3 times in a year, we just can't afford it, and supposedley, neither can she.

It really is a sad situation for a GREAT father, and I fear your husband will end up in the same situation, UNLESS you get something in writing ASAP.

It will be no problems to travel Xinjiang now. Just have a look at the Xinjiang Travel Guide and get more ideas from that:

Safer to travel in China than parts of America or Britain; of course one should never do silly things like expressing support of any kind for Tibet; which is a part of China.

It is definitely safe. Just be respectful to the minority customs.

Sure, you are safe to travel around Xinjiang province.
Firstly, show your respect for the local Uigur customs.
Then be aware that sometime you will travel in outdoor environment where is surrounded by Gobi desert.

By the way, cities such as Urumqi, Turfan, Kashgar are always included in Silk Road tours. See a example itinerary http://www.chinafacttours.com/tours/silk…

Yes, it is very safe to travel around Xin Jiang province, but try to have some one guide your as there are many minorities groups there and all with different languages and custom practises. Be aware and respect their rules and nothing unhappy would happen. Another things be aware below:

One of the things I found interesting about Xin jiang was how everything was effectively seen as on two time zones simultaneously. Technically, the Chinese government cast the whole of China as on one uniform time - Beijing time. But cities like Kashgar are so far from Beijing, that their daily patterns are naturally closer to those of Tajiks or Kyrgyz across the border.

So even while banks and schools 'function' on Beijing time, everything starts a little later. The post offices for instance open at 10 rather than the official 8. All trains and airplanes run on Beijing time as well.

Make sure when making an appointment which time zone the other peson is referring to.

A pilot or an air steward would give you an opportunity to travel and also, depending on the airline, reduced flights to many other places.

I think you need to start by concentrating on learning languages. Languages are still a must, for certain travel jobs, although obviously speaking english is the main one. You could become a travel courier, or start with Toi a tour operators guide. If you bring up Toi and then click onto Tour Operators Initiative Homepage, you';; find all sort of information. My niece started with them and she is at the moment in Turkey as a guide, She is 19 speak 3 fluent languages and very lovely to look at which helps. Anyway good luck to you as well
